If you are thinking of going ahead for a vacation and plan to use your timeshare you should be aware of actual status of timeshare properties that have started to reopen since Covid-19.
We have seen a lot of resorts almost all of them shut down completely during this time of crisis. Now as a lot of these are reopening; they are only opening to limited capacity and limited amenities.
For many resorts, the restaurant hasn’t open, the spa has not open, and even the swimming pools are not operational. The timeshare owners are paying thousands of dollars for maintenance fees for a room and because of this many want to cancel the contract.
Number one reason owners feel misled is because they can’t book in a way they want to book. They are not able to travel where they want to travel because of the constraints the timeshare companies put.
Another reason, people who have owned their timeshares for 10, 15, 20 years have enjoyed it for those years but then there have been changes in their life, in some cases the ownership came as an inheritance. And many, who have inherited the timeshare don’t want to keep it.
A lot of horror stories can also be learned as to what people were told in a timeshare presentation. They will try to lure you in with the free cruise or a gift card. They frame the ideal dream which is a rude awakening when the people actually try to use the timeshares.
